NigeriaDecides 2023: Incumbent Buni Wins Yobe Gubernatorial Election

Governor Mai Mala Buni of All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Yobe State. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  Returning Officer, Prof. Umaru Pate, announced the result on Sunday in Damaturu. 

Buni, who is the incumbent governor polled 317,113 votes to beat his closest opponent, Alhaji Sherif Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 124, 259 votes.

Pate said: That Buni Mai Mala of APC having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner of the election and returned elected."

The returning officer, who doubles as the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere in Gombe, noted that Alhaji Garba Umar of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) placed third with 14,246 votes, while Arabi Mohammed of the Action Alliance (AA) polled 3,260.

The number of registered voters was 1,485,141, while the number of total accredited voters was 459,492,  

This was even as the total number of valid votes stood at 444,567, while the number of rejected votes was 13,214. The  total votes cast was also 457,781.

National Parks Panacea In Mitigating Climate Change- Olory

Emerging Diseases: EHCON Faults Health Workers For Neglecting PPEs
