Presidential Media Tour: Gov Sani Warns Against Opposition Truncating Democracy

BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has warned Nigerians against opposition trying to truncate democracy.  He stated this in Kaduna at a state banquet for the Presidential Media Team and over 50 journalists, on a tour of Federal Government projects in the North-West.  The team, led by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga continued its inspection with visits to several Federal and state government projects.  These included the 35-kilometre Gadan-Gayam, Gwaraji, and Kujama roads linking 76 farming communities in Igabi, Kajuru, and Chikun Local Government Areas; the multi-billion-naira Skills Acquisition Centre; and the 300-bed capacity Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital. President Tinubu Scraps Ministries Of Niger Delta, Sports, Merges Others

BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja  President Bola Tinubu has scrapped the Ministry of Niger Delta and Ministry of Sports Development.  To this end, the President will establish a Ministry of Regional Development to oversee all the regional development commissions such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission. Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga disclosed this via his X handle on Wednesday.  The decision to scrap the ministries, which was reached during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja, will pave the way for the National Sports Commission to take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.  In addition, the President also merged the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy. 

Nigeria Not Engaged In Human Rights Abuse, Presidency Replies UK

BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja          Bayo Onanuga  The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga has absolved Nigeria from any form of human rights abuse, stating categorically that the country is governed by law.  This followed the arrest of president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Joe Ajaero on Monday morning, September 9, 2024, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Reacting, the UK Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday condemned the arrest of Ajaero, describing it as blatant intimidation and a violation of trade unions freedom. The statement read: "Joe was released last night (Monday night) but it is clear that his ordeal is not yet over.
