This followed the arrest of president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Joe Ajaero on Monday morning, September 9, 2024, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Reacting, the UK Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday condemned the arrest of Ajaero, describing it as blatant intimidation and a violation of trade unions freedom.
