Permanent Secretary of EPO, Mallam Shehu Ibrahim, who stated this in Abuja recently at the maiden meeting with the staff of EPO, enjoined the staff to synergise with one another so as to maximize their full potentials.

He said that effective collaboration would improve their work ethics, adding that the essence of the meeting was to familiarise with the staff for a robust working relationship.

This, he believed would quicken the actualisation of the mandate of EPO, urging the staff to be diligent, committed and focused on their work, shun gossips and avoid spreading fake news.

Ibrahim stated that any knowledge acquired in the discharge of their duties would be an added value and a reference point for higher responsibilities while in active service.

The permanent secretary encouraged the staff to seek for clarifications to avoid being misguided by fake news, adding that service entails cooperation and not competition.

He commended his predecessor for laying a solid foundation for the development of the office, promising to improve on the existing structures.

On his part, the EPO Director of Pollution Control, Mr Clinton Igwe said that the office was designed to attain perfection and has witnessed a trajectory of progress over time.

He was optimistic that the new permanent secretary would assist the staff to attain excellence in their diverse career.

While describing the permanent secretary as an astute professional, he advised the staff to take advantage of his wealth of experience and improve on their work ethics.

Earlier, the Deputy Director overseeing the Office of the Director, Special Duties, Mallam Abdu Yahaya commended the permanent secretary for his swift action in convening the maiden meeting.

EFCC: You Do Not Change A Winning Team

By Iliyasu Gashinbaki          Iliyasu Gashinbaki I have read the letter from the former President, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, addressed to the Chairmen of the Constitution Review Committee of both chambers of the National Assembly- Deputy Senate President and Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives.  I was looking for his prayers to the esteemed lawmakers on clear and unambiguous anomalies he observed in the Establishment Act of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that need legislative action in the review exercise. I must confess, I could not find any.  Instead, the legal luminary made a sweeping statement that is neither rooted in facts nor verifiable evidence that “I very strongly believe the EFCC is unconstitutionally established. The powers under which it was established go beyond the powers of the National Assembly. The EFCC is an unlawful organisation.” How? I have asked myself repeatedl...
