Arsenal and England forward, Bukayo Saka has partnered with a Charity Organisation, BigShoe to fund the surgery of over 120 Nigerian children.
The 21-year-old assisted BigShoe to organise the surgery that focused on brain tumours and inguinal hernias in Nigeria’s second largest city, Kano.
Speaking with Sky Sports, he said that he felt blessed to be in a position where he would contribute to making the children’s lives easier and better through the surgeries.
He said, ‘I still feel very connected to Nigeria. For me, it is very important to use my abilities to make a positive impact where I can, and I have to say a big thank you to the whole BigShoe team for making this possible."
Saka noted that its important for every child to have the same opportunity to achieve their dreams.
"It makes me happy when I can see the kids happy and their parents are happy. Iwant to do more and more and help as many children as I can", he said.
Saka was born and raised in England but could have represented Nigeria at international level, as both parents grew up in Nigeria.
He noted that he's proud of his Nigerian heritage, adding that he's still addicted to Nigerian games.
‘But I’ve seen the process of how England is transforming and I think in the future, they’re going to do great stuff. I feel like it was right for me to choose England", he added.
Saka stated that his dad was born in England and his mum in Nigeria, but they both grew up in Nigeria and met each other in Nigeria.
He hinted that life was tough for his parents when they finally relocated to England, noting that they quickly adapted to the changes as soon as him and his brother was born.
