Despite Explosion, Kogi Residents Praise Buhari's Visit

Despite the explosion that hit Okene on Thursday, residents of Kogi State have commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to commission some legacy projects. 

At least, four persons died on Thursday, when an early morning explosion detonated at about 9 a.m, beside the second gate leading to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ibira on Kuroko road, Okene. 

BOblog had reported that a car and two motorcycles were also burnt during the incident.
In a chat with newsmen in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, the residents described Buhari’s visit as historic, as it was his first visit since Yahaya Bello assumed office as the Governor. 

A security personnel, Mr James Alabi was excited that despite the morning bomb blast that President Muhammadu Buhari fulfilled his promise. 

The APC flag bearer, Kogi West Senatorial District,  Sunday Karimi noted that the visit was in fulfillment of the long-awaited expectation by Nigerians for the President to commission projects in the state. 

He was excited that the legacy projects of Governor Bello were successfully commissioned by the President.

The State Accountant-General, Alhaji Jibrin Momoh stated that the President's visit was very apt and historic. 

He congratulated Gov Yahaya Bello for embarking on developmental projects in the state, describing the event as remarkable. 

Momoh was optimistic that the project would impact the lives of the residents. 

The Executive Secretary, Kogi Office For Disability Affairs, Mr Zacchaeus Michael, said that the triumphant entry of Buhari to Kogi was a blessing to the people of the state.

He said that members of his commission, disability community and the teaming supporters of All Progressives Congress, were proud of Bello, whose achievements surpassed all other administrations. 

Some of the projects commissioned included the Referral Hospital, Okene; Ganaja Flyover, the first of its kind and Confluence University of Technology, CUSTECH, Osara.

Others were Confluence Rice Mill, Ejoba; GYB Model Science secondary schools, Adankolo and Township road network in Idah, Okene and Kabba.

Emerging Diseases: EHCON Faults Health Workers For Neglecting PPEs
