Four Die In Explosion As Buhari Visits Kogi

At least four persons died on Thursday when an early morning explosion hit Okene in Kogi State.

This happened few minutes before President Muhammadu Buhari was scheduled to commission some legacy projects in Kogi, that was built by Governor Yahaya Bello. 

The explosion which occured at about 9 a.m, detonated beside the second gate leading to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ibira on Kuroko road, Okene. 

BOblog reports that a car and two motorcycles were also burnt during the incident.
An eyewitness, who preferred anonymous said that the bomb detonated from the vehicle and motorcyles, killing the two cyclists instantly.

The security operatives immediately cordoned off the area, even as the bodies of the dead persons were in the scene of the explosion.

Narrating the incident, the eyewitness noted that he was inside the house when he heard a very loud sound and as he rushed out to ascertain what transpired, he saw a vehicle and two motorcycles on fire close to the second gate of the Ohinoyi’s palace.

He noted that the explosion was so dreadful that he saw three bodies laying on the ground. 

Some of the projects to be commissioned by President Buhari include Reference Hospital, Confluence University of Technology, Ganaja Fly over and some road projects.

Confirming the incident, spokesman of Kogi Police Command, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, described the explosion as very unfortunate and shocking.

Ovye-Aya noted that the police was on top of the situation as security operatives had already sealed off the area.

He said that investigation into the blast had commenced.

Emerging Diseases: EHCON Faults Health Workers For Neglecting PPEs
