Messrs CCECC Wins Bid For $2.2bn Fourth Mainland Bridge

Messrs CCECC-CRCCIG consortium has won the  bid for the construction of Fourth Mainland Bridge, 4MB, in Lagos State, expected to gulp $2.2 billion. 

This is even as Messrs. MOTA-ENGIL, NIGERIA & AFRICA and CCCC & CRBC consortium were identified as the reserved bidder for the project.

The Fourth Mainland Bridge was proposed as a Public Private Partnership, PPP, transport infrastructure project that would comprise of the construction and operation of a greenfield tolled road and bridge, with a design speed of 120km/h, including the development of adjacent real estates.

When completed, it would span about 37kilometres, starting from Abraham Adesanya in Ajah, on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe corridor and traverse the North West towards the Lagoon shoreline of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway via Owutu/Isawo in Ikorodu.

Announcing the winners on Friday at the PPP office in Ikeja, the Lagos State government said that the blridge would become the second longest in Africa with three toll plazas, nine interchanges, a 4.5km Lagoon bridge and an eco-friendly environment.

Special Adviser to the Governor on PPP, Mr.Ope George recalled that the state government commenced a competitive bidding process for the selection of a concessionaire.

To this end, he said that the government issued a Request for Expressions of Interest on 27th of November, 2019, adding that a total of 52 responses were received, with 32 being responsive. 

George pointed out that a Request for Quotation was subsequently issued on 10th February 2020 to the 32 eligible applicants and a total of 15 responses were received on 15th April, 2020.

He noted that upon evaluation, six bidders met the criteria to progress to the Request for Proposal stage.

George was optimistic that the bridge would reduce congestion on the existing Carter, Eko and Third Mainland bridges while opening new areas for future developments.

EHCON Seals Deal With SEPHON, EPHPAN, WAHEB To Revamp Environmental, Public Health
