The Police has arrested nine persons in connection with the alleged murder of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, grassroot mobiliser in Oyo town, Hakeem Mudashiru.
Mudashiru was allegedly macheted to death in his father’s house on Wednesday, 28 December, 2022 by some suspected rival political thugs.
Confirming the arrest on Thursday in Ibadan, Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, SP. Adewale Osifeso noted that the suspects, including a female, were allegedly involved in the murder.
He said that the case is currently handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Osifeso noted that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was attacked by suspected hoodlums, who he had earlier engaged in an heated argument before his untimely death.
He stated that an unfortunate case of random violence led to the death of Hakeem Mudashiru, 40 years, as reported by his father, Jimoh Agala, at Durbar Divisional Police Headquarters, Oyo State on Wednesday at about 1.35 p.m.
Osifeso said that police had been deployed to the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The police spokesperson promised to provide updates as the case unfolds.
