The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has disclosed that all the passengers abducted at a railway station in Edo State have regained freedom.
Suspected herdsmen allegedly armed with AK 47 rifles had on Saturday, 7 January, 2021 kidnapped 31 passengers at Tom Ikimi Train Station, Igueben in Igueben Local Government Area of the state.
BOblog had reported that the passengers were waiting to board a 4 p.m. train from Igueben to Warri when the kidnappers struck, shot sporadically and abducted some passengers, leaving many injured.
The NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations Mahmood Yakub in a statement on Thursday confirmed that all the abducted persons have been released to their families.
He maintained that none of the victims was hurt or injured during their period of captivity and release.
NRC also appreciated the role, patience and cooperation of the families of the victims, as well as the roles played by the security agencies, state government and those who contributed to the release of the victims.
