Bandits Behead Eight Persons In Benue

Suspected Fulani bandits have beheaded eight persons in Abagana community along Makurdi/Lafia road in Benue State.

The incident occured on Thursday night opposite the Internally Displaced Persons Camp (IDPs) in the state. 

Bandits had invaded the community and killed seven people barely two years after the latest attack. 

BOblog learnt that bandits attacked the community around 9 pm, shot sporadically and killed a family of six and two others. 

The dead victims include a man, his wife, four children and two others. 

Narrating the incident, a source who spoke on condition of anonymity said that: "On Thursday night at about 9 pm, suspected Fulani bandits invaded Abagana community opposite the IDP camp and killed many people.

“Eight corpses, including women and children, have been recovered and another eight people were seriously injured. They have been evacuated to the hospital for treatment.

“Some of the bodies were beheaded and the heads were taken away. A man with his wife and four children were all wiped out in the attack.”

The Security Adviser to Benue State governor, Lt.Col Paul Hemba confirmed the attack. 
He described the attack as unprovoked, adding that the villagers had already prepared to retire to their beds when Fulani bandits ended their lives. 

Hemba provided the names of the dead victims as Gbashaor Acho, Gbashaor Joseph, Anshe Dekera, Ancho Kpor, Eunice Gbashaor, Sewuese Gbashaor, Terlumun Ajah, Emberga Gbashaor, and Donald Gbashaor.

He disclosed that the casualty figure may likely rise as other persons, who were fatally shot and wounded may not survive the injuries in their chest.

Hemba stated that two of those killed were IDPs while the bandits stole two motorcycles belonging to the villagers.

The Commissioner of Police, Benue State, Wale Abass also confirmed the attack.

Emerging Diseases: EHCON Faults Health Workers For Neglecting PPEs
