NNPCL Commences Drilling In Nasarawa Oil Well By March


Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has concluded arrangement to commence drilling of oil in Nasarawa State by March 2023.  

The oil well which is sited in Obi/Keana community and named 'Ebenyi-A', would be the first in the North Central part of Nigeria.

Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Malam Mele Kyari, stated this when he led management of the company on a courtesy visit to the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule on Thursday in Lafia.

He noted that NNPCL started exploration activities in the state since 2010 and technically discovered hydrocarbon, expressing optimism that the exercise would be fruitful. 

Kyari hinted that the exploration would not be restricted to the current Obi/Keana location, hoping that the discovery would open up more opportunities for the state and the country generally.

He appreciated the government and people of Nasarawa state for their cooperation during the exploration, promising that NNPCL would add more value to the host community when oil would be found in commercial quantity.

Governor Sule thanked NNPCL and his people for maintaining peace in the community. 

He pointed out that insecurity is a major challenge to oil exploration in the country, pleading with the host community to support the company. 

The governor was optimistic that the oil well, which is the first in the North Central, would attract lots of opportunities to the state. 

The Emir of Lafia, Retired Justice Muhammad Sidi-Bage, assured of its support towards the success of the project. 

“On behalf of our people, we want to say that you will find peace, we have been known for being peaceful, kind and loving. You will not have any reason to feel otherwise within the period of your operation in the state,” Sidi-Bage said. 

The Managing Director of NNPC Energy Services Limited, Sophia Mbakwe, noted that the assurances from the government and stakeholders in Nasarawa state is critical to the operation of the company.

“The intent is that it’s going to benefit both parties and we want to go there to ensure no harm to people, no harm to the environment and be able to commence drilling as planned on March 21,” she added.

EHCON Unveils Technology To Phase-out Emissions, Protect Public Health

BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja The Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON) has unveiled a technology meant to phase-out Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and protect public health from emerging diseases, in line with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.  Tagged Oxytane Fuel Additive, it is designed to enhance engine performance, increase fuel efficiency by over 25 percent, and reduce harmful emissions by up to 70 percent. It has been tested on high-capacity generators, including at the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation. Oxytane works by cleaning fuel injectors, removing carbon deposits, and improving combustion in petrol, diesel, and kerosene engines.
