The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday issued Certificates of Return (CoR) to Zamfara Governor-elect, Dr Dauda Lawal-Dare and his deputy, Malam Mani Mumuni.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara, Prof. Muhammad Kalla presented the certificates to Lawal-Dare and Mumuni at the INEC office in Gusau, the State capital.
This was even as the CoR for the twenty-four elected members of the State House of Assembly were presented to them by the State Resident Commissioner of INEC, Prof Saidu Babura Ahmad.
BOblog reports that 17 of the Assembly members were elected on the platform of the PDP while seven were members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lawal-Dare commended INEC and the electorate for a successful exercise.
He stated that the efforts of the electorate would not be in vain as his administration would change the narrative against the banditry that had ravaged the state.
The governor-elect enjoined the residents to pray for the success of his administration.
Lawal polled 377,726 votes to defeat the incumbent governor, Bello Matawalle of the APC who scored 311,976 votes during the March 18 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the state.
