Inauguration Bazaar: Abiodun Orders Release Of 49 Prisoners

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has ordered the immediate release of 49 prisoners serving in different correctional facilities across the state. 

He made the pronouncement on Monday during his swearing-in for a second term in office at Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, the state capital.

News Rider reports that the governor had signed the appropriate warrant for the release of 49 convicts, a move described as inauguration bazaar. 

In addition, the governor and his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, took the oath of allegiance and oath of office, administered by the state Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu.

Abiodun stated that he also signed a warrant mandating  that the death sentences imposed on three persons on the death row be converted into prison sentencing.

The governor noted that his administration would continue to work assiduously for the development and progress of the state, adding that he would consolidate on the successes recorded in the last four years.

He promised to remain focused while implementing his administration's polices and programmes, assuring that he would deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of Ogun.

Abiodun informed his willingness to complete the 250-bed hospital project and open up President Muhammadu Buhari Estate that was kick-started by his predecessor.

He said that he would focus more on several key areas of the economy in the next four years, with an assurance to complete all the on-going projects such as roads and agro-cargo/commercial airport. 

The governor hinted that his administration would achieve its set target in the health sector.

He promised to provide over 1,000 jobs for the youths, develop new policies and sustain the momentum achieved as the industrial capital of Nigeria.

The inauguration ceremony also coincided with the governor's 63rd birthday.

Emerging Diseases: EHCON Faults Health Workers For Neglecting PPEs
