NDLEA Promotes 3, 248 Officers, Honours 12 Commands, 148 Personnel

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has promoted 3,248 personnel and honoured 12 commands and 148 personnel for outstanding performance.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd) stated this on Thursday in Abuja while decorating some of the newly promoted officers.

He noted that the agency entrenched a culture of excellence by recognising personnel that excelled in their respective places of assignment.

Among those decorated were three Deputy Commanders General of Narcotics and four Assistant Commanders General of Narcotics.

Marwa hinted that NDLEA has improved its performance given the reduction in weekly drug supply, adding that Nigerians should commend their actions.

“The intricate and effective intelligence we deploy to track drug barons and dismantle cartels is a testimony to the capability of the new NDLEA we have collectively forged, ” he added.

He stated that the successes recorded in the prosecution of cases, was an indication that the agency is delivering on its mandate.

Marwa boasted that NDLEA witnessed massive transformation by evolving more efficient and sustainable system that guaranteed viable work conditions, good staff welfare and enhanced job performance.

He noted that NDLEA sorted out the problem of career progression by expanding its structures, adding that they are collaborating with international partners for more efficient services.

The chairman said that the agency conducted over 150 trainings, involving more than 6,000 officers in the last 18 months, urging the personnel to be disciplined and exhibit professionalism and commitment while discharging their official responsibilities.

Marwa maintained that NDLEA was rated high among other drug law enforcement agencies, pleading with the personnel to build on the existing performance and protect its hard-earned reputation.

Responding on behalf of the promoted and honoured officers, DCGN Joyce Titus-Awogbuyi appreciated Marwa for providing inspiring leadership at the agency and motivating the personnel to break barriers and excel in their areas of assignment.

Titus-Awogbuyi disclosed that the promotion and commendation would encourage the personnel to contribute more towards achieving the corporate goal of ridding Nigeria of substance abuse and drug trafficking.

The NDLEA boss also presented awards and commendation letters to some personnel for their outstanding performance in the first half of the year.
