Nigeria Wins U-21 Women’s Volleyball Championship

Nigeria has clinched the trophy for the 2023 U-21 African Nations Women’s Volleyball Championship Zone 3.

The team defeated Ghana 3:0 (25-10 25-15 25-10) in the finals held on Sunday at Niamey, Niger Republic.

They had earlier eased past local rivals, Ghana in their first match of the tournament with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-8) win.

The girls continued their winning run in the second match against host Niger, winning 3-0 (25-4, 25-11, 25-4).

The team also swept aside Benin Republic with a dominant display in their third match, claiming a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-9) win to secure a rematch against Ghana in the final.

In an interview shortly after the match, Coach Rakiya Mohammed thanked God for the victory.

“We bless God because this is the first time Nigeria is clinching a trophy at the underage level. I feel so happy.

“The Ghanaians came all out but the girls proved their worth and we have now qualified for the world championship in Thailand", she added.

The team is expected to return to Nigeria later today.

Video: Civil Servants Write Promotional Exams In Darkness

Staff of Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Abuja are currently writing their promotional examination in darkness. In the 11 seconds video, the civil servants were seen writing the examination with torchlight and assistive light from their phones. Findings revealed that the hall, which has poor lighting and ventilation compelled staff battling with poor eyesight to struggle to read the examination. Regretably, the question papers were not typed but hand written, photocopied and distributed to the civil servants.
