Governor Babagana Zulum receiving a publication from the VC of Army University, Biu, Prof. Kyari Mohammed in Maiduguri on Friday.
The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has approved N50 million and the construction of staff quarters and students hostels for the take-off of Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB).
He hinted this while receiving the management of the university led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kyari Mohammed who visited him on Friday in Maiduguri.
The governor directed the Commissioner for Works and Housing to produce architectural design for the project.
He also instructed the Ministry of Education to prepare a list of deserving students from the three senatorial zones of the state that would be awarded scholarship to study at the university.
Zulum informed all state-owned tertiary institutions to re-introduce convocation ceremonies which were suspended due to the activities of Boko Haram insurgency.
He informed that such ceremonies helped in identifying brilliant students that should be awarded scholarship to further their studies.
The vice chancellor commended the remarkable progress recorded in the education sector under Zulum’s administration, which projected the state as a reference point.
“As a university, we are particularly encouraged by the monumental achievements recorded in the education sector, from primary to tertiary levels.
“In terms of quality teacher development, recruitment, training and re-training, and the high-quality infrastructure made Borno a reference point around the country,” Mohammed added.
