Tinubu Celebrates Nigeria’s Creative Ingenuity, Fetes Funke Akindele

President Bola Tinubu has lauded the ingenuity, creativity and immense artistic talents of Nigeria’s thriving entertainment industry.

This is even as the President congratulated Actress Funke Akindele on her record-setting film and commended her contributions to the growth of the industry.

News Rider reports that Akindele’s movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’, was on Thursday, December 4, 2024, announced as the first Nollywood movie to earn N1 billion.

The announcement was on the Filmone Entertainment official Instagram page @filmoneng, which was followed by congratulatory messages to Funke and the cast and crew members.

“A momentous achievement unfolds as #ATribeCalledJudah etches its name in the annals of Nollywood glory. This cinematic masterpiece has not only captured hearts but shattered records, becoming the FIRST Nollywood movie to soar past the 1 Billion Naira milestone at the box office, "said the Instagram post.

But the Presidential spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale in a statement on Friday in Abuja, extolled the creative industry’s pivotal place as a medium not only for artistic expression but also a source of enormous soft power and viable export.

“The creative industry is one of the high-employment sectors, providing jobs for our able and talented youths. It is an industry that is crucial to my administration.

"I salute Nigerians for their enduring support and patronage of home-grown creative efforts. We will provide the conducive environment for the industry to thrive further,” Tinubu added.

The movie, which was released on December 15, 2023, was directed by Funke and co-produced by her and Adeoluwa Owu.

It was also praised for its captivating storytelling, cultural pride and the unyielding spirit of Nollywood as it resonated deeply with audiences nationwide.

EHCON Unveils Technology To Phase-out Emissions, Protect Public Health

BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja The Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON) has unveiled a technology meant to phase-out Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and protect public health from emerging diseases, in line with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Tagged Oxytane Fuel Additive, it is designed to enhance engine performance, increase fuel efficiency by over 25 percent, and reduce harmful emissions by up to 70 percent. It has been tested on high-capacity generators, including at the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation. Oxytane works by cleaning fuel injectors, removing carbon deposits, and improving combustion in petrol, diesel, and kerosene engines. It is used for personal vehicles, generators, and industrial equipment.
