NAF Destroys Terrorists' Camps In Katsina, Zamfara

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has destroyed several camps operated by notorious terrorist commanders, Bello Turji and Halilu Buzu in Katsina and Zamfara States.

The newly discovered camps were acquired through Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), even as Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch targeted and engaged the terrorists with rockets and cannons.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the North.

Buba noted that feedback revealed that several of the terrorists, including some of the commanders were indeed neutralized as a result of the airstrikes.

Despite the successful airstrike, the spokesperson said that the Defence Headquarters do not have a report of the death of Turji and Buzu.

Similar air interdiction was also conducted in June 8, overhead terrorists’ enclave in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State following confirmed ISR.

The Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were eliminated and their structures destroyed.

Buba hinted that on June 6, the air component of Operation Whirl Punch conducted air interdiction on a senior terrorist commander enclave at Tsaunin Doka in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The battle damage assessment and feedback from locals revealed that several terrorists with high-profile commanders were eliminated and their logistics destroyed.

But also on the same day, confirmatory ISR indicated terrorist activities in terrorists’ camp within Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger, that killed several terrorists.

EFCC: You Do Not Change A Winning Team

By Iliyasu Gashinbaki          Iliyasu Gashinbaki I have read the letter from the former President, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, addressed to the Chairmen of the Constitution Review Committee of both chambers of the National Assembly- Deputy Senate President and Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives.  I was looking for his prayers to the esteemed lawmakers on clear and unambiguous anomalies he observed in the Establishment Act of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that need legislative action in the review exercise. I must confess, I could not find any.  Instead, the legal luminary made a sweeping statement that is neither rooted in facts nor verifiable evidence that “I very strongly believe the EFCC is unconstitutionally established. The powers under which it was established go beyond the powers of the National Assembly. The EFCC is an unlawful organisation.” How? I have asked myself repeatedl...
