Music Icon, Onyeka Onwenu Slumps, Dies In Lagos

One of Nigeria's foremost musician, Onyeka Onwenu is dead.

She was said to have slumped on Tuesday, July 31, after performing at a birthday party of Stella Okoli in Lagos.

The legendary actress and politician was immediately rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, where she died.

She was aged 72 years.

The spokesperson for the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN), Muhammed Ahlim confirmed the death.

“Yes, it is true. But we are yet to get an official statement from the family," he added.
