NESREA Inducts 108 Consultants, Seeks Partnership Against Harmful Environmental Practices

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has inducted 108 environmental consultants, with a clarion call to partner with the agency in resolving harmful practices in the environment. 

Director General of NESREA, Dr. Innocent Bariko stated this on Friday at a one-day hybrid induction workshop for newly accredited Environmental Consultants, organised by NESREA with the support of EU Delegation in Abuja.

News Rider reports that environmental consultants provide expert assessment and advisory services for their clients on environmental issues by assisting to reduce the impact of industrial, commercial and government initiatives on the environment.

Barikor tasked the newly accredited environmental consultants to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in carrying out their functions. 

He said: "This is a call to be vigilant and proactive in addressing environmental challenges, and a call to collaborate with NESREA and other stakeholders in fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability”.

The NESREA boss highlighted the important role of environmental consultants in the identification, assessment and mitigation of environmental impacts, as well as in complying with environmental laws and standards.

“You will be our eyes and ears on the ground, helping us to monitor, evaluate, and improve our environmental practices across various sectors. Your work will contribute in safeguarding our natural resources, protecting public health, and promoting sustainable development,” he added.

The Programme Officer for the European Union, Mr. Godfrey Ogbemudia, who spoke virtually, assured that the EU would continue to support the agency through the provision of technical assistance in a way that would enhance national development.

CCB, NILDS Endorse CIFCFIN Agenda To Eliminate Fraud

EHCON Seals Deal With EPHAN On Sustainable Environmental Solutions
