Buhari Appoints NAHCON Chairman, Management Team For NDPHC

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Usman replaced Jalal Ahmad Arabi, who was appointed as acting chairman of NAHCON in October 2023. 

Arabi is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following the alleged embezzlement of monies meant for Hajj.

Professor Usman is a renowned scholar with qualifications from two Islamic centres of excellence, the University of Madinah, and Peshawar University, Pakistan.

Until his appointment, Usman served as the Chairman of Kano State Pilgrims Board. 

He is well-grounded in Hajj operations, having successfully superintended the operations of the largest quota of Kano state pilgrims in the country.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Tinubu expects the new Chairman of NAHCON to discharge his duties with integrity, transparency, and utmost fidelity to the nation.

In addition, the President also appointed new management team for the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

They are Engr Jennifer Adighije — Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.
Engr Abdullahi Kassim — Executive Director (Generation)
Engr Bello Babayo Bello — Executive Director (Networks)
Mr. Emmmanuel Umeoji — Executive Director (Corporate Services)
Mr. Omololu Agoro — Executive Director (Finance & Accounts)
Engr Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama — Executive Director (Strategy & Commercial)
Barrister Steven Andzenge — Executive Director (Legal Services)

The new CEO of NDPHC, Ms. Adighije is an experienced engineer with vast competencies across management functions in the private and public sectors.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Wireless Networks & Telecommunications from Queen Mary University of London, UK, and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

Tinubu expects the new members of the management of the company to deploy their expertise and experience to drive NDPHC’s mandate of effectively managing the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP).

The appointments were contained in separate statements by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale on Monday in Abuja.

National Parks Panacea In Mitigating Climate Change- Olory

Plastic Waste Project: AEPB Targets N10.5m Revenue Monthly

 BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja                               Mr Benjamin Enwerem The Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) has set out plans to generate N10.5 million monthly through the pilot implementation of Plastic Waste Value Chain in line with Nigeria's Circular Economy project.   The revenue is expected to be generated through the collection, sorting, processing and installation of waste recycling facilities such as recycling cage, waste bags, sacks, tricycles, digital and hook scale, digital vertical scale, hydraulic bailer and crusher.  A circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products such as plastics without leakage into the natural environment.
