EPO Do Not Have Any Abandoned Project–Ndayako

The Permanent Secretary of Ecological Project Office (EPO) Dr Aishetu Gogo Ndayako has disclosed that the office does not have any record of abandoned project since 2015. 

She stated this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by Environmental Media Correspondents Association of Nigeria (EMCAN) to her office in Abuja.

Ndayako maintained her readiness to partner with the media in the coverage of various ecological intervention projects implemented by the office in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

"We welcome media partnership because you are the key stakeholders that will be able to tell our stories, ask us questions and also visit the host communities to ask them the impact of such intervention projects in their lives."

The permanent secretary pointed out that EPO is a unique office within the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation that intervenes in ecological projects across the six geo-political zones of the country.

She noted that the intervention projects are carefully selected and properly implemented for the improved livelihoods of the benefitting communities. 

The Chairman of EMCAN, Comrade Chuks Oyema, congratulated Dr Ndayako on her appointment as the permanent secretary of EPO. 

He assured that EMCAN would support and collaborate  with the leadership of EPO for effective coverage and implementation of ecological needs in Nigeria. 

EMCAN comprises print, electronics and online journalists accredited by various media houses to provide coverage on environmental-based issues. 

While praying for the successful tenure of Dr Ndayako in office, Oyema was hopeful that she would carry out her tasks effectively.

Director of Special Duties, Mr Sunday Babatunde thanked the permanent secretary for accepting to receive members of the association despite the short notice.

Technical Directors in EPO took turns to provide an overview of their departmental inputs towards the successful implementation of ecological projects.

They are Directors of Pollution Control, Mr Clinton Igwe, Pollution Control; Drought, Desertification and Coastal Zones Management, Mr Samuel Igagu, and Soil Erosion and Flood Control, Mr Abubakar Takuma.

Also present at the event were, Directors of Finance & Accounts, Mr Aondoakaa Emmanuel; Procurement, Dr Simon Omachoko; Internal Audit, Mr Ineama Ogbonna as well as other management staff.

National Parks Panacea In Mitigating Climate Change- Olory

Plastic Waste Project: AEPB Targets N10.5m Revenue Monthly

 BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja                               Mr Benjamin Enwerem The Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) has set out plans to generate N10.5 million monthly through the pilot implementation of Plastic Waste Value Chain in line with Nigeria's Circular Economy project.   The revenue is expected to be generated through the collection, sorting, processing and installation of waste recycling facilities such as recycling cage, waste bags, sacks, tricycles, digital and hook scale, digital vertical scale, hydraulic bailer and crusher.  A circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products such as plastics without leakage into the natural environment.
