Minister Praises Tinubu For Massive Infrastructure Renewal

BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja
The Minister of State for Works, Mohammad Bello Goronyo has praised President Bola Tinubu for embarking on massive renewal of road infrastructure, aimed at strengthening economic and social development.

He disclosed this on Wednesday at the commissioning of road project traversing Gusau and Talata Mafara towns in Zamfara State, rehabilitated  by the Federal Emergency Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

Goronyo extolled the visionary, dogged and consistent commitment of Mr. President toward alleviating the plight of Nigerians through the provision of quality infrastructure.
The minister has been crisscrossing many states in the past few weeks to inspect and commission FERMA projects.

He assured that Gusau-Talata Mafara road project has the potential to boost socio-economic activities within the corridor, reduce road accidents and promote ease of travels for the residents and Nigerians generally.

Goronyo made an unscheduled stop over to inspect the ongoing Continuous Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) project along Gusau - Sokoto axis, Fajaidu section.

He commended the President for his audacious will to thrive where past leaders could not, just as he lauded his courage, determination and patriotism as outlined in his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The minister described the project as iconic, expressing optimism that it will  facilitate rapid economic development in the country,
While commending the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi for implementing the Renewed Hope mandate of the President with zeal, urging Nigerians to support the present administration's concerted efforts to reposition the nation and bring succour to the less privileged.

In Kebbi State, the minister was received by mammoth crowd at the commissioning of another road project on Birnin Kebbi - Argungu - Sokoto State border road.

The road was damaged by the frequent movement of articulated vehicles and flooding in the area, making it impassable for vehicles and the residents. It was recently rehabilitated by Federal Emergency Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

He thanked Tinubu for providing the needed financial resources that enabled FERMA to fix the road, just as he underscored the importance of the road as a major connecting route between Kebbi and Sokoto states.

The minister thanked the MD/ CEO of FERMA, Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi and the management team for responding promptly to the yearnings of the people to fix the road, which was badly damaged.

Goronyo listed the benefits of the roads as improved commercial activities, creation of direct and indirect jobs, reduced travel time, reduced vehicle maintenance, accidents and fatalities; increased agricultural activities and improved security that are the components of Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.

He called on the residents to take full ownership of the road and be vigilant so that articulated vehicles do not damage the road again without paying for the repairs.

Goronyo informed the community that 'OPERATION SAVE OUR ROADS', which was launched at Ilela in Sokoto State on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, will be replicated on the project.

The mandate of the operation was to enforce stiff penalties on dangerous use of the road, since the projects were constructed with tax payers money.

He assured the residents that President Tinubu loves the North and will do nothing inimical to the development and growth of the region.

The Commissioner of Works, Kebbi State, Engr. Abdullahi Faruk thanked the Federal Government for rescuing the state from deplorable roads, which will enhance socio-economic activities.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry  Mohammed Ahmed on Thursday Abuja.
