One of Nigeria's foremost Elder Statesman, Edwin Clark is dead.
He died on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the age of 97.
Until his death, Clark was the leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).
A representative of the family, Prof. C. C. Clark confirmed his death on Tuesday.
The statement reads: "The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday, 17th February 2025.
"The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family."
Briefly
Born on May 25, 1927, Clark began his political career in 1953 when he was elected Councillor of Bomadi in Delta State.
Clark later joined the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) political party.
He served as Midwestern Commissioner of Education and Commissioner of Finance respectively between 1966 and 1975.
Clark was also a member of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the Second Republic and treasurer of the party in the old Bendel state.
