Umahi To Commission Completed Section Of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Others

Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi has concluded plans to commission the completed part of Phase I, Section I (30 km of 750 km) Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. 
The event is scheduled to take place at Kilometre 8 of the project (Jakande Estate Area in Lagos State) today. 

Umahi is also expected to virtually commission other completed Renewed Hope signature projects in the South such as Lagos -Calabar Coastal Road Corridor (Phase 1 Section 1: Ahmadu Bello to Eleko Village Area in Lekki Peninsula (Ch.0+000 - CH47 +474; 47.474km). The 30 kilometres project with contract number 8438, is handled by Messrs. Hitech Construction Limited. 

He initiated the coastal highway 27 years ago with an enduring vision to expand the transportation ecosystem, improve accessibility along the coastal communities of nine States, foster  regional integration and social cohesion, and stimulate inclusive development. 

Other projects lined up for commissioning are 94 kilometres East-West Road Section II (Sub Section I) Eleme Junction in Port Harcourt - Ahoada in Rivers State, handled by Setraco Nig Ltd. 

Also, expansion works on Lagos-Ibadan dual carriageway, Phase 1, Section II, (Shagamu-Ibadan), with contract number 6205 in Ogun and Oyo States. The 166.8 kilometres project was awarded to RCC Nigeria Limited. 

"Rehabilitated Alesi - Ugep (Iyamoyung-Ugep) Section in Cross River State with Contract number 6263. The 67.1 kilometres project was awarded to Sermatec Nigeria Limited. 

"Reconstructed collapsed Enugu Bridge at New Artisan Market Enugu - Portharcourt Road in Enugu State, with contract number 8494 and awarded to   Messrs. CCECC Nigeria Ltd Project.

"Constructed New Bridge at Akpoha in Ebonyi State to replace the near collapse bridge, with contract number 8469. The 75m (3-Span, Single Carriageway) is handled by Messrs. CCECC Nigeria Ltd.

"Rehabilitated Enugu – Port Harcourt Expressway, Section III: Enugu – Lokpanta in Enugu State, with contract number 6251.
"Rehabilitated Ikorodu - Shagamu Road in Lagos/Ogun States, with contract number 6289A and handled by Arab Contractors O. A. O. Nig. Ltd.

"Upgraded 15km Section of the East - West Road from Port Harcourt (Eleme Juction) to Onne Port Junction in River State. The project is handled by RCC Nigeria Limited. 

"Rehabilitated and expanded Lagos - Badagry expressway to Agbara junction, between Nigeria to Benin Border in Lagos State, with contact number 6513. The 24.30km x 2 project is handled by CGC Nigeria Limited. 

Umahi is also expected to flag-off some awarded projects including the Ibadan Ife-Ilesha-Akure-Benin road in Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Edo States; construction of Nembe- Brass road, and construction of a section of Enugu and Onitsha carriageway (107 kilometres) Abakpa flyover in Enugu State.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is one of the four Renewed Hope Legacy projects kicked-off by Mr. President.

Umahi, alongside the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo has made all the necessary arrangements to receive the invited dignitaries that will witness the commissioning of Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, including state governors, national assembly members, Federal ministers, heads of agencies and parastatals and development partners.

EHCON Seals Deal With SEPHON, EPHPAN, WAHEB To Revamp Environmental, Public Health
