A Pan-African non-governmental organisation, Jacob’s Ladder Africa (JLA) has finalised plans to unveil green enterprise, aimed at empowering the youth to achieve sustainable livelihoods.
Tagged GreenWorks 4 Africa forum, the inaugural ceremony is scheduled for 11 to 13 August 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.
JLA acts as a catalytic integrator of youth-led green enterprise growth as a pathway to inclusive and climate-resilient economic transformation.
The landmark event is designed to accelerate green skills development and job creation across the continent.
Away from the traditional conference format, the forum will adopt a case-study-driven approach that will garner policymakers, private sector leaders, and NGOs to co-create actionable solutions that will position Africa as a global leader in the green enterprise agenda.
The urgency of the forum is underscored by projections from the International Labour Organization (ILO), which suggest that the green economy could generate over 60 million jobs in Africa by 2030, within the energy, waste, and natural resource sectors.
Co-Founder and CEO of Jacob’s Ladder Africa, Sellah Bogonko said: "The potential for growth in Africa’s green economy is undisputed.
"However, these projections only become reality if we build the necessary infrastructure for green enterprises to thrive. GreenWorks 4 Africa is designed to convene the strategic actors needed to turn this potential into tangible outcomes."
"As we look toward COP32 in Addis Ababa, we are maintaining the momentum of African climate leadership, with GreenWorks 4 Africa serving as a prime example of this commitment," Sellah added.
The initiative builds on the success of the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), where Jacob’s Ladder Africa hosted the first-ever pavilion dedicated to green jobs and skills development.
The confab is a platform that will unite governments, the private sector, and civil society to drive actionable solutions for green workforce development across the continent.
Over the course of three days, the forum will feature thematic working rooms where participants will conduct sector-specific deep dives and develop practical, and implementable outcomes.
The thematic areas include renewable energy and the productive use of energy; e-mobility, green infrastructure, and sustainable urbanisation; and climate-resilient agriculture and smart food systems.
Others are circular industry and integrated waste systems, natural capital and nature-based enterprises; and industrial decarbonisation, green manufacturing, and sustainable mining.
GreenWorks 4 Africa is expected to produce an African Toolkit for Green Jobs Development, based on case studies and investment-ready models, alongside a proposed Green Jobs Taxonomy for Africa.
Briefly
Jacob’s Ladder Africa supports the development and scaling of enterprises that create employment, deliver climate solutions, and strengthen economic resilience.
Working with governments, investors, and local ecosystems, it enables young entrepreneurs to translate skills and innovation into viable businesses and sustainable livelihoods at scale across countries and sectors.
Its approach emphasises market access, enterprise financing, and institutional alignment to ensure green solutions are implemented at scale and contribute to long-term development outcomes.
