Customs Pledges To Assist NNMA Office For Rewarding Excellence

The Comptroller-General of Customs Service, NCS, Adewale Adeniyi has pledged to assist the Nigerian National Merit Award, NNMA, office for identifying and rewarding excellence in Nigeria.

He made the pledge in Abuja, when the Acting Secretary of the NNMA, Mercy Musa, led members of the management team on a courtesy visit to the Service’s Headquarters in Abuja.

Describing the NNMA as an important institution for promoting excellence in national life, Adeniyi stated that recognising outstanding Nigerians would inspire younger generations to understand that greatness is achieved through hard work, commitment and innovation.

He said: “What we are doing is so important because we want the younger generations of Nigerians to know that there is no shortcut to greatness. They have to put in hard work and commitment. When a government agency recognises discoveries, innovations and excellence, it deserves the support of all Nigerians.”

Adeniyi hinted that the Service had supported the Award Office in the past, assuring the delegation that the NCS would explore available lawful avenues to provide further opportunities to support the agency’s operations as partners.

The Acting Secretary of the NNMA, Mercy Musa praised the Comptroller-General on the extension of his service and his recent election as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation Council, attributing the achievements to his hard work, diligence and dedication.

She informed that the NNMA is responsible for conferring Nigeria’s foremost award for intellectual and professional excellence, adding that since its establishment in 1979, only 79 Nigerians had received the prestigious honour.

EHCON Unveils Technology To Phase-out Emissions, Protect Public Health

BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja The Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON) has unveiled a technology meant to phase-out Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and protect public health from emerging diseases, in line with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Tagged Oxytane Fuel Additive, it is designed to enhance engine performance, increase fuel efficiency by over 25 percent, and reduce harmful emissions by up to 70 percent. It has been tested on high-capacity generators, including at the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation. Oxytane works by cleaning fuel injectors, removing carbon deposits, and improving combustion in petrol, diesel, and kerosene engines. It is used for personal vehicles, generators, and industrial equipment.
