Customs Endorses WPRF, Lists Strategic Reforms On Trade, Border Security

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has endorsed the upcoming 2026 World Public Relations Forum, WPRF, scheduled for November, highlighting the impact of strategic communication towards the success of key reforms implemented by the Service.

Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC, Adewale Adeniyi disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja, when a delegation led by the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Professor Justin Green, alongside the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, and Chairman of Council, Ike Neliaku, visited him at the Customs House Abuja, ahead of the global event.

He listed strategic reforms undertaken by the Service, including B’Odogwu, Authorised Economic Operator, AEO, programme and Advance Ruling, which improved Customs processes, border security and legitimate trade, while strengthening the relationship between the Service and its stakeholders.

Adeniyi said: “The Nigeria Customs Service recognises the importance of the World Public Relations Forum and its potential to bring global attention to responsible communication, institutional trust and effective public service. And, I want to assure you of the Service’s support for the forthcoming event and its commitment to contributing to its success.”

On the significance of the forum, Prof. Justin Green informed that hosting 2026 WPRF in Nigeria will be a significant achievement for the country and the public relations profession in Africa.

Green pointed out that the forum would provide a global platform to showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage, communication industry and innovative approaches to public relations, while creating opportunities for knowledge-sharing, professional collaboration and dialogue on the future of communication.

All the 126 member countries of the Global Alliance are expected to attend the forum.

The NIPR President pointed out that the Institute is engaging key institutions and stakeholders ahead of the forum, as their participation and support are vital to the success of the international gathering.

Neliaku described NIPR’s ambition for the Abuja forum as delivering the best, biggest, and brightest WPRF, with Nigeria demonstrating its capacity to host a major professional event in November with the theme: “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.”

EHCON Unveils Technology To Phase-out Emissions, Protect Public Health

BY CHIKA OKEKE, Abuja The Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON) has unveiled a technology meant to phase-out Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and protect public health from emerging diseases, in line with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.  Tagged Oxytane Fuel Additive, it is designed to enhance engine performance, increase fuel efficiency by over 25 percent, and reduce harmful emissions by up to 70 percent. It has been tested on high-capacity generators, including at the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation. Oxytane works by cleaning fuel injectors, removing carbon deposits, and improving combustion in petrol, diesel, and kerosene engines.
